10 Powerful Reasons Why You Should Never Give Up

Giving up on your dreams is one of the easiest and guaranteed ways to ensure your failure. We give up because things become difficult, we give up because we get hopeless, we give up because we fear failure, we give up because success is uncertain, we give up because the pain becomes unbearable, we give up because… There are plenty of reasons why we give up.

If you have a goal to achieve in your life, then the process of achieving it is like an adventurous journey. Some days will be easy, and some days will be difficult; some days you will feel happy, and some days you will curse yourself for starting the journey. It’s a roller coaster ride. But however enthusiastic or positive you are, you may get discouraged and feel that you should give up this journey. And it’s obvious, we all feel like giving up before achieving great success. But if you give up, everything will finish, and as I said, it is the best way to ensure your failure. Hence, it is essential to get it clear why you should never give up to save yourself from this danger.

Here in this article, I have listed 10 reasons why you should never give up. All these points are based on my experience of life and my observation of people. These points can give you hope and positivity to face your fears, take action, and keep moving forward. So, here we go…

Why You Should Never Give Up

1.You haven’t achieved your goal

One of the most powerful reasons you shouldn’t give up is that you haven’t yet achieved what you wanted. And as long as you are alive and mentally healthy, you have to keep trying. If you feel like giving up, ask yourself why you started this journey. Was it to prove yourself or because you wanted to achieve greatness or because you wanted to be rich, or because you wanted to help others? Whatever it is, remind yourself why you started. Remind yourself you haven’t achieved what you wanted to. Remind yourself that giving up will not help you achieve it.

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.”
-Thomas Edison

2. You have already come so far

You have started the journey and already come so far. Now you have a better probability of achieving success compared to when you didn’t even start. Every day as you are moving forward, your probability of success is increasing. But now, if you give up, all your efforts so far will be wasted. And you never know how closer to the success you are when you give up. Maybe you are just a few inches away from victory; maybe just taking a few steps, you would find the treasure.

“Survival can be summed up in three words―never give up. That’s the heart of it really. Just keep trying.”
-Bear Grylls

3. Self-doubt is common

You may give up when you begin to doubt your potential. You doubt whether you would make it. You doubt whether you are quailed enough. You doubt whether you are on the right path. And most of the time, we take these doubts seriously and get affected by them. Here you have to understand that doubting yourself is common. Almost everyone who achieved great success in the past doubted themselves, and it’s not like they felt confident and optimistic every time. It’s not the absence of doubt which led to their success but their habit of ignoring their doubts and moving forward.

“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.”
-Dale Carnegie

4. Success is always difficult

I have seen many people enthusiastic at the beginning of the journey; they work hard, remain devoted and disciplined. But when things get complicated, they find it hard to continue and start thinking about giving up.

Achieving success is never easy; it never was; it never will be. Had it been easy, anyone would do it, and everyone would be successful. But in reality, very few people achieve extraordinary success because very few people pay its price. You can’t give up just because life has become difficult, as all the most beautiful things in this world are difficult to achieve.

5. Uncertainty is where extraordinary happens

Sometimes you may give up because things are uncertain- you don’t know what will happen tomorrow, where you are heading and whether your hard work will pay off. When we are addicted to certainty and safety, our lives become very limited, and we live a mediocre life. If you observe the life of all the great personalities you know, you will find they all took the risk and always embraced the uncertainty. Because uncertainty is where we grow, experience new things, and create something ground-breaking. Uncertainty is where the extraordinary happens. Success and achievements are never certain.

“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
-Nelson Mandela

6. Failures are important

Failures are far more valuable than success because they make you stronger, make you wiser, and prepare you for success. But many people give up because they fear they will fail as if a failure will kill them. You can’t give up even if you have a deep fear of failure, giving up is not an option. You must keep moving forward as long as you haven’t achieved what you wanted to. If you fail, you will learn; if you succeed, you will achieve your goal; but if you give up, you will return empty-handed. Giving up is far worse than failure. I repeat- giving up is far worse than failure.

7. Pain is inevitable

You will feel pain in your journey to success because the universe has never guaranteed easy success. Everyone who achieves greatness has to suffer. And if you feel you are struggling a lot, then I have good news for you- your success will be huge. Don’t forget, the more you struggle, the more will be your level of success. You can’t give up because you are not able to bear the pain. The pain you feel today is temporary, but the glory you would achieve through this pain would be permanent.

“Never stop trying. Never stop believing. Never give up. Your day will come.”
–Mandy Hale

8. No regrets

What if you give up today and later realize that you were just a few inches away from success? You will live the rest of your life with regrets. And believe me, regret is the worst of all the feelings out there. And this is the worst thing that will happen when you give up. But what is the worst that can happen if you don’t give up? The worst-case scenario is- you fail. But even if you fail, at least you would not regret that you didn’t try; at least you would be satisfied that you did your best.

“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”
-Thomas Edison

9. It is always darkest just before the dawn

Things will be the most difficult when you are about to achieve success. You would be in the most vulnerable state; you may not have any hope at all; you would be tired and most likely to give up. That’s how nature works; it is always the darkest before the dawn. If you give up, everything will finish. If you don’t, you would see one of the most miraculous things you have ever witnessed. You would see yourself moving from zero to one hundred; you would see yourself achieving success. You would be amazed, and it will all be unbelievable.

“Never give up. Today is hard, tomorrow will be worse, but the day after tomorrow will be sunshine.”
-Jack Ma

10. Your efforts will pay off

People worry whether all the effort they are putting in will even result in something. Let me tell you, all the hard work you are doing, all the risk you are taking, all the suffering you are going through will pay off one day. The only way your efforts will be wasted if you give up.

Once you achieve success, you would realize how beautiful it is. You would feel grateful for yourself that you continued when things were difficult, continued when you had no hope, continued even when you suffered, and never gave up. This is one of the most powerful reasons why you should never give up.

“Never, never, never give up.”
–Winston Churchill

Conclusion

Why are you giving up? If it seems difficult, remember it has to be difficult; had it been easy, anyone would have done it. If you fear failure, remember you learn more from failure than success. If you can’t tolerate the pain, remember pain is temporary, but the achievement will be permanent. If you doubt yourself, remember it’s obvious; most people doubted themselves before achieving great success, and they didn’t even know they would achieve success. Whatever the situation, giving up is never an option because even if you fail, at least you will be satisfied that you tried.
