First things first, I am not a poet. But I like to read them and so got inspired to write one. I found the poem If by Rudyard Kipling highly influencing and thought of writing an inspirational poem that will capture the realities of life. I took the help of a close friend of mine, who is a good poet.
Read this, and I am sure you will feel inspired to live your life to the fullest. You would realize that we don’t have enough time, so we must try our best to get the most out of the limited days we have. So, here we go…
When You Realize: An Inspirational Poem
When you realize that
The greatest fear you should have, my friend
Is not living your life,
Worrying about what they may think,
And not doing what your heart sings.
When you realize that
Everything is temporary
All the sorrows, fears, and failures,
The experiences you cherish,
The things your eyes see,
Vehicles, animals, humans, trees
Will not exist hundred years from now.
When you realize that
Death is certain;
The most certain thing in life,
The certainty no one can elude,
Not the rich, not the famous, not the powerful.
When you realize that
Before you go into a deep sleep,
There are dreams you need to fulfill
But the time is limited for you
To waste on stupid people,
To waste on stupid things.
When you realize that
Everything meaningful in your life
Satisfaction, happiness, and peace
Are not on the outside but within you
Priceless yet free.
When you realize that
Whether you are
Living the happiest days of yours
Or the darkest,
Or not living at all
Life will keep pacing up at its own rhythm.
When you realize that
You don’t need them to like you
Nor situations that favor you
To do what fills your heart and soul,
To do what is truly meaningful to you.
When you realize that
Life is just a matter of time
Then, my friend, you will
You will understand the reality of life
You will understand how to live your life to the fullest.
Conclusion
That was the inspirational poem- When You Realize. I hope you liked it. You can let me know in the comments if you have any suggestions to improve and make it more poetically beautiful. (I am not a poet, I told you.)
Remember this quote by Buddha- The problem is, you think you have time. So, live your life to the fullest, doing what you like and spending time with people you love because a life well lived is long enough.
It is the best poem I have read in a while…I am inspired and hopeful after reading this.
Thanks for this lovely comment and being that close friend who helped me write the poem.
